VIDEO: The Sparta Area Fire District fire chief, Mike Arnold, said a suspected arsonist set fire to a single story home in northern Sparta on Friday night. He said the fire was near the intersection of Kroeger Dr. and Meadowview Ln., about a block away from Sparta Meadowview Middle School. Responders were called to the scene at 9:13 p.m. Friday by the couple who live in the home after they came back from dinner to find smoke coming from their house, according to the fire chief. The fire chief said firefighters found seven places where fire was allegedly started in the basement of the home as well as one fire that was allegedly started on the first floor.
