VIDEO: The family of a Lake Delton firefighter hit by a car while responding to a fatal crash is asking that drivers slow down and pay attention to emergency crews on the roads. Lake Delton firefighter Joe Sabol, 39, was in stable condition Monday after fighting a brain bleed in critical care all weekend. Wife Amanda said he was awake and able to talk with friends and family. “He's strong,” she said. “And it sounds generic, but he's my hero. He amazes me every day, and this has blown me away.” Fire Chief Darren Jorgenson was at the hospital Monday to check on Sabol. Both he and Amanda had strong words for drivers passing by emergency scenes on the side of the road.
