A Madison man was detained after volatile chemicals were discovered at his Far West Side apartment Tuesday morning, prompting the building’s residents to be evacuated, authorities said. The Madison Fire Department sent its Hazardous Incident Team to the Timberlake Village Apartments, 7425 Timberlake Trail, around 10:30 a.m. after authorities received complaints about an odor, Madison Fire Chief Steven Davis said. “They got inside and found numerous chemicals inside a single family apartment,” Davis said at a news conference Tuesday night. Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said there was enough “sophistication between the mechanical apparatus and the numerous chemicals” in the apartment that it created the potential for bomb making.
