Alliant Energy officials announced the company has shut off utility service to some customers in the Janesville and Beloit area because of flooding. The areas that are most affected are low-lying properties near rivers, streams and lakes, according to a news release. Alliant Energy officials said some basements have flooded, causing utility equipment to be underwater. “In the interest of customer and employee safety, we need to take proactive steps to protect the public in these areas,” said Bridget Aldridge, Alliant Energy senior customer operations manager in Janesville, in a news release.
