VIDEO: Foggy conditions made it hard for law enforcement to find an ice fisherman, after he fell through the ice on Lake Mendota. It happened Wednesday night just off the shore of the city of Middleton. The Fire Chief with the Middleton Fire District said a man was riding back to shore on an ATV when he hit a thin spot on the ice and fell through. "He was having a difficult time finding his way off of the ice because of the amount of fog and encountered an ice heave, went through the ice and was fortunate enough his ATV was equipped with the appropriate floats and was able to stay on the ATV just partially in the water," said Fire Chief Aaron Harris.
