An Appleton resident is okay after being rescued from a house fire. Appleton firefighters were called to the home on W. Reeve Street just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke inside the home. Once inside, emergency crews found the resident lying on the floor by the door. The resident was safely taken out of the house and evaluated for possible injuries. They were not transported to the hospital. Fire crews determined the cause of the fire was burnt food on the stove. Officials say the resident had fallen down while cooking and was unable to turn the stove off. The fire was contained to the stove and the home had working smoke detectors.
