VIDEO: A thunderstorm that came through Madison Sunday afternoon caused some issues on the south side. A tree branch broke off and landed on a power line as it fell onto a home on Birch Hill Drive, off Raymond Road. Madison fire officials say the basement of the home filled with smoke from a small fire. Firefighters were able to turn the power off quickly to stop any further damage. Madison fire officials say there wasn't much homeowners could do to stop it. "We don't want homeowners doing any tree trimming around power lines, so typical home owners shouldn't be doing that, so if you see overgrown trees on power lines, get a hold of MG&E they can come out and trim the trees back. That's pretty much the only thing that could prevented it. Otherwise it was pretty unlucky," said Lt. Scott Larson, with the fire department.
