Fire officials as of Monday night did not have a cause of a massive fire at Johns Disposal Service and were expected to remain at the scene until 10 p.m., more than 24 hours after the call originally came in. The fire, the largest in Racine County since February 2013, started at about noon Sunday, engulfing the 1-ton bales of recyclable materials stored at the facility, 7311 Omega Circle. Some bales were still smoldering well into late Monday afternoon, Wind Lake Fire Chief Rob Robins said at about 4:15 p.m. “This is the biggest fire since I’ve been chief,” said Robins, who became chief in 2009.
