A couple and their four children were assisted by the American Red Cross Wednesday after a fire did extensive damage to their home, according to the Vesper fire chief. A caller reported a fire at 55 block of Grant Road, Hansen, at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, Vesper Fire Chief Dennis Dederich said in a news release. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a 3,000-square foot building, used as a home and auto body repair shop, had heavy smoke throughout the structure. Property owners Greg Plawman and Sarah Schmoll and their four children were not injured in the fire. The fire did extensive damage to the home and its contents, Dederich said in the news release.
