VIDEO: Around 12:00pm, La Crescent Police and Fire responded to reports of an Amtrak passenger train crashing into a pick-up truck on Shore Acres Road between La Crescent and La Crosse. Police and fire responded along with Gundersen Tri-State and CP Rail. Two were inside the truck at the time of the collision. Officials are still investigating why the truck was on the tracks. The train struck the passenger side of the pick-up truck. One passenger of the truck was removed and walked to an ambulance, the other had to be extricated by firefighters removing the door by hand. Both were taken to local hospitals, La Crescent Fire Chief Tom Paulson told News 19 they were being treated for serious injuries.
