New life-saving equipment is coming to the South Shore Fire Department. The Fire Department is planning to purchase 10 new defibrillators, including heart monitors and six AutoPulse units, which are automated CPR devices. South Shore Fire Chief Rob Stedman made presentations to the villages of Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant about the need for these devices. “It’s very critical that we have these monitors, they work effectively,” Stedman said of the defibrillators. The cost is just under $400,000 for the defibrillators, with Sturtevant paying roughly 20 percent of the cost, the department plans to have the equipment paid off over a five-year period.
