A Madison fire crew responded twice within an hour this weekend to reports of a fire in a pedestrian tunnel on Madison's north side, according to a news release. The Madison Fire Department said firefighters responded to the tunnel near Troy Drive and School Road shortly before and then shortly after midnight, finding a pile of clothes on fire in both instances. The first call came in at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, when firefighters found a small fire in an entrance to the tunnel, fire officials said. The crew extinguished the fire and looked for witnesses but couldn't find anybody with information about the fire.
