Racine firefighters rescued a man from the Root River Monday evening. At about 7:50 p.m., a call came in for a possible drowning at the north side of the river just south of Green Glass, 1120 N. Within about five minutes, firefighters had dropped a ladder in the river and the man climbed out without injury or need for medical attention, police said. The man was swimming in the river but did not have enough strength to pull himself out, police said. Responders began leaving the scene at 8 p.m.
