The City of Racine must identify a new location for a fire station it wants to move after discovering that buildings are prohibited from the site originally selected. The city planned to relocate its Fire Station No. 6, now at 2101 16th St., which was built in 1975 and constructed to residential standards. The site was not planned to be used for more than 10 years, according to Fire Chief Steve Hansen. City officials said in June that they planned to build a new fire station in Case-Harmon Park, 2724 Hamilton Ave., that would house the equipment now kept at the 16th Street location. That plan is out after a resident alerted city officials to a problem. When the park was donated to the city in 1929, said Mayor Cory Mason, the deed specified that no buildings could be constructed on the property except for the purposes of play and recreation.
