VIDEO: Milwaukee police and firefighters were on the scene of a fatal crash Sunday, July 22 near 53rd and Howard. It happened around 6:20 p.m. The medical examiner confirmed for FOX6 News one person died as a result of the crash. MFD officials said the deceased was a retired firefighter, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire officials said the driver of the vehicle is a police officer who was off-duty. Police say the driver lost control and struck a tree. The 31-year-old male driver is cooperating with the investigation. The department’s crash reconstruction unit and the State Patrol reconstruction unit are working together with this investigation.
