VIDEO: A major company resumed excavation work in Sun Prairie Monday for the first time since a deadly, damaging natural gas explosion, with city officials confident safety measures will prevent any repeat of the incident. While TDS officials say no construction crew associated with its underground, fiber optic work was on-the-job near the leak and subsequent July 10 explosion, they idled all the firm's excavating work citywide following the explosion. A TDS official says work resumed Monday with increased diligence regarding safety. The explosion killed 34-year old Sun Prairie Fire Captain Cory Barr, injured another firefighter, destroyed nearly a half dozen buildings and damaged others. An investigation into potential criminal negligence continues.
