VIDEO: A pilot was killed and two farm workers were injured after a vintage single-engine military-style plane crashed into a farm building shortly after taking off from the Sheboygan County airport, several local officials said Friday. “The pilot was killed upon impact,” Sheriff Cory Roeseler said in a brief press conference just outside the county’s Aviation Heritage Center, near where the pilot had reportedly taken off before the crash, which was reported at about 4:06 p.m. The pilot, 50-year-old Martin J. Tibbitts, from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, was flying a DE Havlon DH112 Venom. The plane burst into flames after the crash, said Roeseler, who noted the incident left between 40 and 50 cows dead as well.
