The Middleton Fire Department hosted a block party Saturday, hoping to raise funds to buy equipment needed to keep the community safe.
The event had fun things to do for the kids who got to participate in activities such as a bouncy house, dunk tank and face painting.
There was also more serious activity: the fundraiser hosted a Kids Challenge Course, so they could see what it's like to be a firefighter.
Organizers say it was also an opportunity for the first responders to connect with the kiddos and let them know they can count on them.
"To really teach them...if you see us don't get scared, we're there to help you and just to try to educate them as much as possible in a short amount of time," said Brandon Acker, a Middleton firefighter.
The department hoped to raise $50,000. A lieutenant tells 27 News they think they hit that goal.
