The cause of the fire that destroyed Friendship Bar & Bowl in the Village of Friendship is under investigation. The fire was reported just after 1 a.m. A portion of Highway 13 was closed as crews worked to control the fire. The road re-opened to traffic just before 8 a.m. Monday. Adams Fire District Chief Mike Rusch said nearly 40 firefighters from four departments responded to the scene. The building was engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived. "When we got there the fire had already vented itself to the roof and the roof had fallen in," said Rusch. Firefighters used an aerial ladder to attack the flames from above and a machine to pull the walls down to get better access to the source of the fire. "We spent a lot of time trying to get this thing out. We had to bring in an excavator to pull some of the stuff out of there so I could get it out," said Rusch.
