Officials from the city of Mauston and MSA Professional Services met June 5 to officially break ground at the site of the new Mauston Fire Station. Mauston Mayor Brian McGuire said the new station is part of a long term plan to improve the city’s services. “We’ve been working on this a couple of years and we worked to find the most economical solution to improve our safety and services to people in the community,” McGuire said. Once the fire station is completed, the police department will begin a remodeling process to make all Mauston emergency services more efficient. Mauston Fire Chief Kim Hale said the location of the new fire station will help optimize not only the fire department’s service to the community but also safety for crew members.
