Mike Stanley's new home will be his fifth ever and his first outside of Colorado. The past Aurora, Colorado, firefighter took over the job of Oshkosh fire chief this week from retiring longtime chief Tim Franz. His first day as chief was Monday. "(My wife and I) have been in the same house for 19 years, I've been at the same job for almost 22 years," he said. "It's a big adventure — very different change." Stanley said he was attracted to the position in Oshkosh due to the department's motto, "Be Nice." "That really resonated with me, and it caused me to start researching the department more to find out if that was really one of their values," Stanley said. "It became clear to me that it was."
