MHA of Wisconsin contributes to the initiative by organizing Zero Suicide training sessions in which clinicians, as well as other community members like police officers and firefighters, are educated on how to recognize warning signs. But Rolando said one of the most important efforts in suicide reduction is storytelling. "People think talking about suicide is contagious," Rolando said, "But the more people talk about their lived experiences, the less alone people feel. We want to flip the script and talk about hope and recovery, so that people know that hope is real, recovery is real."
