PHOTO: Eight people are injured in an early morning crash near Black River Falls. It happened around 1:12 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-94. According to information from the Wisconsin State Patrol, a semi driven by Jason Gilberts of Willmar, Minnesota was traveling on the interstate on the inside lane. A van, driven by Jayden Gjertseth of Black River Falls, was in the outside lane. The van sped up and tried to make a left-hand lane change in front of the semi, which caused the semi to strike the van. The semi driver made corrective maneuvers resulting in the semi overturning and landing partially on the van. Black River Falls Fire Chief Steve Schreiber said that the driver of the van was trapped in the van following the crash. Once Gjertseth was extracated, he was airlifted from the scene.
