A Madison man who caused a crash early Saturday morning that took the life of a Madison man is being charged with homicide. Gavin Veium, 22, will be tentatively charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and second-degree reckless homicide, Madison police said. Diano McCullough, 45, was killed in the fiery crash that happened at about 3:30 a.m. on John Nolen Drive at South Blair Street. McCullough's Nissan SUV was rear-ended by Veium's car. Veium sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital, but was released from the hospital and taken to the Dane County Jail on Monday. An autopsy done on Sunday confirmed McCullough's death was the result of injuries sustained in the crash. Final positive identification was completed on Monday.
