The Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Department is using dollhouses as teaching tools for its firefighters and community members. Three high school students from Gibraltar built the dollhouses with windows and doors, which are then used to show how different factors like air directions can affect the behavior of the fire. It marks the first time the Sister Bay-Liberty Grove Fire Department will use the dollhouses for training, but Fire Chief Chris Hecht says the practice has picked up steam across the country over the last three to five years. Hecht says the dollhouses also show the importance of sleeping with the bedroom doors closed and closing windows if possible in the event of a fire.
