A man posing as a Lake Geneva firefighter has been passing out unsafe smoke detectors while going door-to-door soliciting funds, the Lake Geneva Fire Department said Friday. The fire department was notified of the impostor Monday and the smoke detectors are not UL approved, according to a news release. The fire department does not go door-to-door to solicit funds but will provide and install smoke detectors to Lake Geneva residents, according to the release.
