VIDEO: Local fire departments responded to an apartment fire in Tomah Sunday afternoon. The Tomah Fire Department arrived to the fire at 1315 Butts Ave. around 2:30 p.m. The fire fully engulfed the building and left heavy damage. No injuries were reported, but multiple cats were killed. Officials said the building, where up to 12 people live, is a total loss but a total assessment still needs to be completed. Firefighters said even though they arrived within minutes of the call, the fire was already out of control. "We were here within a couple minutes of the page and we had a good turnout. Unfortunately, the fire had developed quite rapidly by the time we had got on scene. We were forced to go to a defensive form of attacking the fire from the outside," said Tomah Fire Chief Tim Adler.
