A construction worker was rescued by Madison firefighters Saturday after a machine fell into a trench. The Madison Fire Department went to the 700 block of West Dayton Street around 3:30 p.m. after a skid loader was reported to have dropped in a trench, trapping one person. The fire department said the Heavy Urban Rescue Team was called in as it has specialized tools and equipment to free people. About an hour after firefighters arrived, the construction worker was freed and taken to a hospital, the fire department said.
