A slew of upgrades at Sheboygan’s downtown and century-old fire station could begin soon after Common Council members on Monday approved a contract for masonry repairs. Council members approved, on a 16-0 vote and without any discussion, the $146,000 contract with Innovative Masonry Restoration of WI LLC. The firm is expected to help fix a firehouse that the city has said is “in dire need of restoration.” The Council earlier this year approved a smaller bid to repair the roof at the building, located at the corner of North Ninth Street and New York Avenue. The city could also act later this year on heating and ventilation and other interior remodeling work at the station.
