Nobody was injured Sunday afternoon in a fire that damaged the exterior of a home on Madison's Far West Side. The fire was reported at about 4:15 p.m. in the 2300 block of Mica Road, the Madison Fire Department said. Responding units could see smoke a block or two away from the single-family residence. "Ladder Company 7 circles the home on foot to investigate, finding active fire on the rear of the house extending into the soffit," said fire department spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster. Firefighters forced entry into the home to make sure everyone was out, and also to check for any fire extension into the interior of the house. The fire was under control in about 12 minutes.
