One person was transported to the hospital and eight residents were displaced after a structure fire in a Racine duplex Wednesday afternoon. Racine firefighters were dispatched at 1:22 p.m. to 419 Park View Drive, located north of West Sixth Street and Island Park and east of the Root River, for a report of a kitchen fire. The fire reportedly began in the kitchen of an upstairs unit of the upper and lower multi-family residence. Upon arrival, fire crews reported smoke coming out of second-floor windows. All occupants were able to escape from the building, but fire officials reported that one resident was transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital for smoke inhalation.
