A young boy in Marathon County battling cancer had a dream come true Thursday when he became an honorary firefighter for the day. Lincoln Schrock is only 3 1/2 years old, but he already knows he wants to be a firefighter. "That's been a dream of his forever," said Kaitlyn Schrock, Lincoln's mom. "I hope one day he can experience it for real, being a firefighter." Lincoln was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma shortly after his third birthday. The months that have followed haven't been easy. "You just never expect to be a parent of a kid with cancer," said Kaitlyn. "It's very hard to see him screaming in pain." In April, Love Your Melon, an apparel brand that helps kids with cancer reached out to the Schrocks about making a dream come true for Lincoln. Immediately, they knew he'd love to go to the fire department. "Firefighters are his heroes," said Kaitlyn. Love Your Melon partnered with the Marshfield Fire Department to make his dream come true.
