A Chippewa County dispatcher has won an award for telecommunicator of the year. Wade Davis was given the award by Wisconsin Public Safety Communications. Davis was honored at the Chippewa County Board meeting on Tuesday, and the board gave him a standing ovation. Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk said Davis is a hard worker and liked by everyone in the department. “It’s a very prestigious award when you think of how many people serve as EMS and firefighters,” Kowalczyk said. “Wade has less than two years with the sheriff’s department. We are very proud of Wade and the way he handles himself, and how he handles the public on the phone. He does a very good job. Not all of our calls are pleasant.”
