A fire in Merrill spread to a pasture and a barn before it could be put out. The Merrill Fire Department tells us a 911 call came in about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday with a report of a grass fire on Joe Snow Road. The DNR and several other fire departments were also called out. Owners of the property had been trying to burn out the inside of an old silo foundation. The fire spread to a brush pile next to the silo foundation, and then the barn. No one was hurt. Merrill firefighters remind you to check burning conditions before you burn.
