The City of Lake Mills and Lake Mills Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are coming together to determine the best way of serving the community. The two groups met May 7 and discussed a myriad of topics including the possibility of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two agencies. Both agencies will have a workshop May 15 to continue the discussion. Lake Mills City Manager Steve Wilke said finding volunteers is challenging and a report written in 2013 by McGrath Consulting examined the possibility of the two agencies joining forces in the future to fix the problem. “The whole reason behind that recommendation is finances,” he said. Wilke added that funding two full-time departments is labor intensive and would be expensive.
