Firefighters from 6 departments battle barn fire near Denzer in Sauk County

Firefighters are battling a barn fire in the town of Honey Creek. The Sauk City Fire Department responded to the call sometime before 5 p.m. and requested mutual aid. Sauk City firefighter Dan Kirch said the structure was an 80 foot-by-80-foot pole barn holding hay. No people or animals were injured. The fire appeared to be on Evert Farms at the intersection of Zech Road and Highway C outside Denzer. Fire departments from Prairie du Sac, Baraboo, North Freedom, Mazomanie and Plain were among area departments called. The Sauk County Emergency Response Unit was also on site, along with Sauk Prairie Ambulance.
