A 61-year-old Stevens Point man pleaded not guilty Monday to trying to kill his former girlfriend and a man he found her with in bed by pouring gasoline on the bed and lighting it. Gary L. McDonald is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. McDonald's home was in foreclosure and he was being evicted, according to court records. He got home about 2 a.m. Aug. 24 and decided to go into his basement to see how the packing was progressing. McDonald found his former girlfriend sleeping in a basement bedroom with another man, according to court documents. McDonald became angry, went to the garage and got a can of gasoline.
