Imagine waking up in the morning and someone tells you one of your wishes is about to come true. For one local Yahara Elementary School student it happened last week. Doug Teitge, a Yahara Elementary student with autism, was woken up by his mother, Renee, on Oct. 3 for school. But unlike any other typical day, Renee announced to Doug that a fire truck would be coming to escort him to school. Renee said it was a complete surprise for Doug, who admires fire trucks and firefighters so much that he has his own firefighter uniform at home. When the DeForest Windsor fire truck arrived at the Teitge home last Wednesday morning, Doug was in awe. As the fire truck and an ambulance pulled up in front of the house, Doug began waving to the first responders and ran back to Renee in excitement.
