They died after suffering the effects of cancer, or a heart attack, or in a collision with a train. Their deaths were as recent as six months ago, and as dated as nearly 90 years ago. But on Saturday, eight Wisconsin firefighters will be honored all at the same time, in the same way, for giving their lives in serving their communities. Emergency responders from across the state will gather at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial in Ben Hansen Park to honor seven men and one woman during the annual Fire Alarm Ceremony, followed by a silent but vivid procession through the streets of Wisconsin Rapids.
