A chimney fire causes significant damage to a Jackson County home, according to the Black River Falls Fire Department. It happened just after 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 on Beaver Lane in the Town of Adams. The Black River Falls Fire Department says a tree service spotted the fire while in the yard cutting down a tree. Crews say the tree service workers saw smoke coming from the roof and went inside to tell the home owner. The homeowner was not aware of the fire, but he and his dog did get out safely. The fire department says it appears the fire was caused by the wood stove. A damage estimate isn't known at this time, but firefighters say the home can't be lived in right now.
