At the Milton City Council meeting, during public comments, Town of Milton and Joint Fire Commission chairman Bryan Meyer expressed concern about where the discussion about the fire department might lead. He noted the town and city have an intergovernmental agreement and joint ownership of the fire department. Meyer noted the fire commission typically speaks to matters related to the fire department and brings issues to the city council or town board if necessary. Meyer sat in the second row with town board and commission members Jon Jennings and Marian Trescher. At the back of the room sat members of the fire department. At the Aug. 21 city council meeting, city council member Larry Laehn, during committee reports, read a statement asking city staff to develop a recommendation in support of pursuing funding needed to build, staff and equip a new fire station in collaboration with the City of Janesville. City administrator Al Hulick said Tuesday’s subsequent agenda item was open-ended.
