A fire captain and firefighter made the rescue of an 18-month-old boy from a fire at an apartment building Thursday afternoon east of Menasha's downtown. The condition of the boy, who was not breathing when he was pulled from the building, was not released as of Friday morning. But Assistant Chief Vernon Green of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue said more details are expected later on Friday. The boy's rescue from the fire inside the apartment building in the 100 block of First Street came after other residents had evacuated. Green said on Thursday that it was his understanding that a man and two other children got out of the apartment safely but were not able to get the toddler. CPR was administered to the boy, who was transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
