A Stevens Point man is facing five felony charges for committing arson in late August. Gary McDonald, 61, is charged with two counts of attempted intentional homicide, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and one count of arson without the owners' consent. McDonald started the fires at a home he foreclosed on in the 2500 block of Simoins Street. A woman who was McDonald's girlfriend was sleeping in the basement with another man. McDonald set fire to their bed, a fire at the top of the staircase, and a third fire outside the bedroom. McDonald fled the scene before later being arrested at his sons' house about 25 minutes after the fire was reported.
