For this year’s Fire Prevention Month, the Bloomfield Genoa City Fire & Rescue Association hopes to improve fire safety in the community. In conjunction with Bloomfield Genoa City Fire & Rescue, the association is holding an upcoming smoke detector drive. During the month of October, smoke detectors will be available at the fire station on 1113 Clover Road in Bloomfield. The smoke detectors — which were purchased by the association thanks to donations made in spring — will also be available at October community events. Residents of the village and town of Bloomfield, Genoa City, and Pioneer Estates may contact the fire station from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (262) 279-2033 for more information. Those that would like assistance with installation can make an appointment with fire station personnel.
