VIDEO: A dispute over a clause in the contract for Janesville Firefighters is causing a rift between the department and the city. In March, Jason Daskam the president of Janesville's firefighter union-Local 580, said the city issued a new rule saying city employees could not use city resources to wash their personal vehicles. Daskam said the rule violated the personal amenities clause in a firefighter’s contract. “They believe they can do what they want with their fire station and we believe that this is our personal amenity and they have to include us on the discussion on how to change that,” said Daskam. Daskam said as a union the organization must stand-up for the firefighters’ contract.
