VIDEO: Emergency medical services and fire crews from around the area are filling shifts for their fellow emergency responders in Lake Mills, so they are able to attend the funeral services for Capt. Chris Truman this weekend. Truman died New Year's Eve after he was hit by a suspected drunken driver while trying to help someone on the Beltline in Monona. "(The shifts) got filled up right away. We volunteered to staff their service and to staff their station, and there were just so many that stepped up to do that," said Bob Salov, the director of Cambridge Area EMS. Madison Fire Assistant Chief Lance Langer said after Lake Mills put out the alert, the shifts were 100 percent filled within about half an hour.
