A suspected drunken driver accused of hitting and killing a firefighter is out of jail. Samuel Cremers was ordered released on a $5,000 signature bond after appearing in court Thursday. Police said he hit Lake Mills fire Capt. Christopher Truman on New Year's Eve on the Beltline as Truman helped a stranded driver. Prosecutors said Thursday that a criminal complaint has not been filed, and the case will take time to investigate. Cremers has no prior OWI convictions. He is scheduled to be back in court in March. Visitation for Truman will be at Lake Mills High School from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. His funeral will be at the high school at 3 p.m. Sunday.
