Firefighters extinguished a structure fire in a detached garage at a home on Madison's east side, according to officials with the Madison Fire Department. High wind conditions pushed flames toward the house and forced officials to call for additional crews. The fire was quickly controlled. Officials said the fire was reported around 4:53 p.m. and firefighters responded to the home at 714 Dempsey Road. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The Madison Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, which caused substantial damage to the garage as well as multiple vehicles parked adjacent to the garage.
