Their usual greeter won’t be at the door this year. Members of the Lake Mills Fire Department have had heavy hearts while planning their largest annual fundraiser of the year, their 14th annual spaghetti dinner will take place Saturday, Jan. 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Lake Mills High School. “In our minds he will always be a member of the department,” said event organizer Andy Brinkmann. “Chris was always our guy at the door.” Since Capt. Chris Truman can’t be at his post this year, after he was killed by a car while helping a stranded motorist Dec. 31, 2018, members of the department are planning a memorial for him and will be accepting funds for Truman’s fiancée Amber Turfle and her children.
