Emergency services in Dodge County could be due for a significant overhaul. At a meeting of town leaders Wednesday, officials discussed the possibility of pooling EMS services in the county to account for struggles with workloads, staffing, response times and finances. Currently, people in Dodge County are served by 18 different EMS providers that are part of a municipality or in a handful of cases a private contractor. Coming together as a countywide service could mean many different things and work in many different ways, according to Fred Hornby, who provided a presentation to emergency service officials, volunteers and representatives from the different towns and agencies. Other counties in the state have brought their agencies together, which he said offers examples of different ways to go about it.
